Jul. 10, 2013 3:32 pm
The Metropolitan Coalition of Iowa's 10 largest cities on Wednesday picked Cedar Rapids Mayor Ron Corbett to be its new chairman during a meeting in Des Moines.
Sioux City Mayor Bob Scott was named vice chairman. Des Moines Mayor Frank Cownie has been the group's chairman the last two years.
Corbett said the coalition consists of mayors and city managers and administrators of Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Sioux City, Waterloo, West Des Moines, Dubuque, Iowa City, Council Bluffs and Ames.
"Our job is to tell the story of Iowa's large cities and the role we play in job creation and population growth for the state," Corbett said on Wednesday.
