Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man they say broke into a truck in the driveway of a northwest Cedar Rapids home earlier this month.
Authorities said around 4:17 a.m. on Sunday, March 17, a white man walked down a street on the northwest side of Cedar Rapids, and can be seen on video entering a white pickup parked in a driveway. Police said the resident does not want his address released, but said he had been concerned with car break-ins throughout the city and had installed a camera overlooking his driveway.
Officials said the video captured the man walking down the street. Police said the subject attempted to enter one vehicle, but found it locked. He then entered a second vehicle, a white pickup, which was unlocked, and police believe he took around $600 worth of items.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Linn County Crime Stoppers at 800-272-7463, or send a text message to CRIMES (274637) with 5527 in the subject/message area and the tip. All calls are anonymous.
