COGGON - Residents of the Linn County community of Coggon will fill a vacant Coggon City Council seat in an Aug. 1 special election.
There are no official candidates listed on the ballot, so voters in the city of about 650 people will have to write in their vote.
The elected council member will fill the seat left vacant by former council member Tom Broghammer.
Voting will be held from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the American Legion Post 362, at 200 First St. in Coggon.
Early voting will take place until July 31 at the Linn County Auditor's Office, in the Jean Oxley Public Service Center, 935 Second St. SW in Cedar Rapids.
