Gregg Hennigan
Feb. 6, 2014 12:53 pm
Christopher Taylor was elected mayor of Swisher this week.
Taylor received 151 votes to defeat Randy Hurlbert, who had 136 votes, according to the Johnson County Auditor's Office.
The special election was held to fill a vacancy created by the abrupt resignation of the former mayor, Tim Mason, during a City Council meeting in November. The town's city clerk also resigned at the meeting.
Swisher has about 900 residents and is in northern Johnson County.
Taylor's term runs through Dec. 31, 2015.
