Grassley plans 21 county meetings in January

Sen. Chuck Grassley will get started on his annual 99-county tour of Iowa with meetings in 21 counties in January, including stops in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City.
Grassley, who is seeking re-election this year, prides himself on visiting every county, every year since being elected to the Senate in 1980.
“That's 2,871 town meetings” in addition to countless other meetings with Iowans, he said recently. “So I hope this shows that I'm committed to fostering the process of representative government, where I go to people to hear their views and they express their views to me or ask questions.”
His January meetings, scheduled during the congressional recess, will include 13 town hall-style meetings. The others will include tours of businesses.
His stops in Eastern Iowa include:
Jan. 10 – Noon, Cedar Rapids Rotary, The Crowne Plaza Hotel, Ballroom, 350 1st Ave. NE; 2:15 p.m., Lawrence Community Center, 600 E. Main St., Anamosa; 4:45 p.m., Hurstville Interpretive Center, Community Room, 18670 63rd Street, Maquoketa.Jan. 13 -- 7 a.m., Traer Public Library, Kupka Cultural Center, 531 2nd St., Traer; 9:15 a.m., Belle Plaine Community Center, 1309 5th Ave., Belle Plaine; Noon p.m., Iowa City Optimist Club, Masonic Lodge, 312 E. College St., Iowa City; 2:30 p.m., Keokuk County Health Center, Doug Adam Classroom, 23019 Hwy.149, Sigourney; 5 p.m., Kalona Chamber of Commerce, 514 B Ave., Kalona.
Jan. 12 -- 10:30 a.m., speak with students at North Cedar Middle School, 400 Ball St., Clarence; 1:45 p.m., Williamsburg Community Recreation Center, 939 S. Highland St., Williamsburg; 6 p.m., Grinnell Rotary, West Side Family Restaurant, 229 6th Ave. W., Grinnell.
