Culver congratulates Kirkwood men, women

Gov. Chet Culver Monday congratulated the Kirkwood Community College men's and women's basketball teams on their success in the NJCAA Division II Tournament, which wrapped up on Saturday. The women's team won their fourth straight national championship, and the men's team placed third in the nation.

“I want to congratulate Coach Kim Muhl, Coach Doug Wagemester and the members of the Kirkwood men's and women's basketball teams on their outstanding performances," Culver said. "These players have shown that Iowa is full of athletic talent at all levels. The Eagle women were impressive in their championship victory, and the men earned a hard-fought third place national finish in an exciting overtime. On behalf of all Iowans, job well done, and best of luck for continued success next season.”
