Krause says Grassley ‘misfired’ on Afghanistan

Democratic U.S. Senate hopeful Bob Krause, who opposes President Obama's plan to send more troops to Afghanistan, said Republican Chuck Grassley has misfired in voicing his support for escalating the war in Afghanistan.

 “The terrorism that we are dealing with is in part a state of mind that has very little to do with taming a piece of territory,” Krause said. “Training camps are mobile and move from place to place, country to country. Geography is part of it, and Pakistan is more at the center of it today, simply because there are more people in that country. But when we attack countries without a good strategy, as we seem to be doing, we actually wind up attacking for no good purpose that will benefit our cause.  We need to be more sensitive to the origins of these terrorist thoughts in developing our war strategies.”
