Pate backs Rathje in 2nd District race

Former Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate has endorsed fellow Cedar Rapids Republican Steve Rathje in the race for the GOP nomination in Iowa's 2

^nd

District.

Rathje, a business owner, is in a four-way primary election battle to win the nomination to face Democratic U.S. Rep. Dave Loebsack.

Pate, a former state senator and mayor, pointed to Rathje's experience in the private sector as a reason for his endorsement.

Rathje is the founder of International Procurement Services, Inc. and the Genesis Group in Cedar Rapids.
