Iowa Democrats have district conventions Saturday

Iowa Democrats will hold their district conventions Saturday, April 24.

District convention delegates were elected at county conventions in March and will also serve as delegates at the state convention in June 12.

This Saturday, delegates will elect members to the Iowa Democratic Party's State Central Committee and discuss the party's platform.

The district convention schedule is:

1st District – 10 a.m., Northeast Iowa Community College, 10250 Sundown Rd., Peosta; Senate candidates Roxanne Conlin and Tom Fiegen, Gov. Chet Culver, candidate for Secretary of Agriculture Francis Thicke, U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley

2nd District – 11 a.m., Fairfield Arts and Convention Center, 200 North Main St., Fairfield; Conlin, Culver, Thicke, U.S. Rep. Dave Loebsack, Iowa Democratic Party Chairman Michael Kiernan

3rd District – 9 a.m., Adventureland Inn, 3200 Adventureland Dr., Altoona; Sen. Tom Harkin, Conlin, Fiegen, Culver, Secretary of State Michael Mauro, Thicke, U.S. Rep. Leonard Boswell

4th District – 10 a.m., North Iowa Fairgrounds, Olson Building, 3700 4th St. SW, Mason City; Fiegen, Culver, Mauro, candidate for Congress Bill Maske
