High school softball: IGHSAU signs an extension to keep the state tournament at Fort Dodge through at least 2045.
Drake Obermueller developed into a valuable and versatile asset for the Iowa City High baseball program. His contributions garnered a spot on the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association all-state Super Team. Here are the all-state selections released Friday.
The 2025 high school baseball season has concluded. All that remains is the announcement of postseason honors. Among those are the third annual Gazette-area baseball awards.
High school softball: Williamsburg, Cedar Rapids Xavier claim four spots apiece on IGCA all-state softball teams. Raiders have three first-teamers in 3A, including all-tournament captain Jersey Metz.
Iowa City High beat Bettendorf, 4-1, Friday afternoon in the Class 4A state championship baseball game in Sioux City. It’s the school’s first such title in the sport and its first in any sport since 2011.

Cedar Rapids Prairie swept Iowa City High in the regular season but third time was a charm for the Little Hawks. They topped Prairie, 6-3, in the Class 4A state baseball semifinal Thursday at Lewis & Clark Stadium.
