Eis Sr., Donald Dean
Donald Dean Eis Sr., 66, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, in his home after a long illness. Services: noon Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, where a visitation will start at 10 a.m. The Rev. William B. Harnish will officiate. Inurnment: Linwood Cemetery.
Survivors include his children, Walter “Eddie” Eis of Cedar Rapids, Donald Dean Eis Jr. and wife Patricia of Cedar Rapids, and Tabitha Marie Emig and husband Brett of Phoenix, Ariz.; his twin sister, Donna Miller, and stepfather, Don Pospishil, both of Cedar Rapids; two half sisters, Lynn Metcalf of Missouri and Patricia Whiteside of Florida; grandchildren, Linda Eis, and Gabrielle Eis, both of Cedar Rapids, and Gracie Emig of Phoenix; stepgrandchildren, Maxwell Emig, Matthew Emig and wife Angel and Jessica Emig, all of Cedar Rapids; and two nieces, Leanne Miller of Atlanta, Ga., and Lorie Miller of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and former wife, Linda Jo Rife.
Donald was born Oct. 17, 1947, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Walter and Ruby (Higbee) Eis. Donald worked for Iowa Manufacturing, Cryovac and Rockwell Goss. He served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed target shooting, mushroom hunting, watching documentaries on history and his cats.
Donald was proud to be a veteran and serving his country.
Donald especially adored spending time with his three grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
