Donald was born Dec. 14, 1941, to Frank Henry and Margaret June (Wiley) Lochner. He and his brother, Frank, were raised by their paternal grandparents, Edward and Blanch Lochner, and uncle, Lyle Lochner. Don graduated from Marion High School in 1960. He attended college in South Dakota and later attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids for further schooling. Don married Connie Rae Campbell on Aug. 3, 1963, in Rock Island, Ill.

Don loved to go fishing with his grandson, especially at their cabin in Arkansas, where they could also go canoeing. He enjoyed many baseball games and especially enjoyed watching his grandson, Levi catch a line drive at a Chicago Cubs game. He enjoyed hot and spicy foods and planted lots of his own jalapeno plants. Don ran several marathons later in life and loved to go to the casino. He was always ready to help anyone who needed something done.
A special thank you to Dr. David Kresnicka, his wife, Dottie, and their staff; Dr. Boddicker, and nurse Sherry; all of the staff at Hospice of Mercy; Pastor Darran Whiting; and vocal artists, Wayne Jackson, Grant Hagen and Rich Crow for their spiritual guidance and for singing to Don. Also, thanks to all of his great friends for their love and support during this time.
