Swan, Lois Elaine
Lois Elaine Swan, 77, of Wayland, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, after a courageous battle with lung disease at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. She was surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services have been set for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at the Wayland Methodist Church with Pastor Linda Renkin officiating. Burial will be in the Center Township Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Thursday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with family receiving friends from 4 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the American Lung Association.
Lois was born August 28, 1933, in Milford, Neb., the daughter of Nicholas and Barbara Ellen (Miller) Roth. She graduated from Wayland High School and was united in marriage to Herb Swan on Oct. 19, 1952, at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church.
Lois was a faithful member of the Wayland Methodist Church. She was employed as a CNA for 20 years at the Henry County Hospital and also helped her husband on the farm. Her greatest love was her family. She was a housewife and loving mom. Every morning she could be found reading her daily devotional and her Holy Bible. Severe lung disease severely limited any activity over the last several years, despite that she always had a smile on her face.
