Robert "Bob" McNulty, 69, passed away Monday, July 27, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids after a courageous battle with cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 31, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Newhall with Father Craig Steimel as celebrant. Interment will be held at St. Patrick & St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, near Watkins, with graveside military rites conducted by John Ward McGranahan American Legion Post No. 167 of Newhall and U.S. Navy Funeral Honors. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church in Newhall.
A memorial fund has been established.
Bob was born Jan. 28, 1946, near Watkins, to Gerald and Lillian (Boddicker) McNulty and graduated from Newhall Public High School in 1963. On Feb. 19, 1966, he married the love of his life, Carole Stark, at St. Paul's Catholic Church. He served his nation on the USS Raleigh (LPD 1) in Norfolk, Va., until his honorable discharge on Sept. 21, 1968. Bob was a member of the John Ward McGranahan American Legion Post No. 167 of Newhall.
Bob farmed the family farm and served on the Benton County Conservation board and on the Lennox Mutual Insurance board. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Newhall.
Bob is survived by his wife, Carole of Watkins; his daughter, Carla (Michael) Miner of Blairstown; son, Duane (Shelly) McNulty of Marion; daughter, Deann (Ryan) Cariveau of Shueyville; and son, Brian (Deah) McNulty of Watkins; his sisters, Alice Miller of Newhall, Carol Ann (Russell) Lund of Newhall, Darlene (Donald) Kerker of Newhall and Mary Lou (James) Jacobi of Atkins; his brother, James (Linda) McNulty of Watkins; his grandchildren, Trisha, Tiffany, Kendra, Kyle, Kirsten, Dylan, Anna, Remi and Aaron; great-grandchildren, Jonah, Isaac and Sadie; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Wayne Miller.
