MARILYN C. (MEYER) SEEMAN
Newhall
Marilyn C. (Meyer) Seeman, 91, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at Heritage Specialty Care in Cedar Rapids.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall with the Rev. Steven Rempfer officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, also at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall. A memorial fund has been established. Phillips Funeral Home, Vinton, is in charge of arrangements.
Marilyn Meyer was born Sept. 22, 1926, to Glen and Velma (Schulze) Meyer in Van Horne. On May 6, 1944, she was united in marriage to Carroll Seeman in Van Horne.
Carroll and Marilyn farmed on the farm where Carroll was born until moving to Newhall in 1986. She was a devoted member of St. John Lutheran Church and served as the church secretary for 30 years. Marilyn and her sister went to Bender Pool water aerobics three times a week for more than 25 years. She enjoyed driving family and friends to appointments through the years and kept a daily journal until losing her eyesight to macular degeneration. Marilyn had a special love for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Lon (Mary) Seeman and Tracy (Janelle) Seeman, both of Newhall; her grandchildren, Brian Seeman of Mystic, Bree (Ryan) Rademacker of Naples, N.Y., Travis and Trevor Seeman of Newhall and Trista (Eric) Kershaw of Pardeeville, Wis.; her great-grandchildren, Troy Seeman of Mystic and Owen and Mason Rademacker of Naples, N.Y.; her sister, Marjorie Boddicker of Newhall; and her sister-in-law, Ardis Seeman of Vinton.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carroll; son, Larry; and an infant brother, Virgil.
