Kurt, Marian L.
Marian L. Kurt, 85, of the Kahl Home in Davenport, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at the Kahl Home after a short illness. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ludmila's Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis Juhl will officiate. Friends may call at the church after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis (Katherine) of Maple Grove, Minn., and Ted (Becky) of Davenport; a sister, Rita Hunter of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and a brother, Dennis Schulte of Savannah, Ga. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Brian and Megan Kurt of Maple Grove, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Lloyd, Ben, and infant brother, Edwin Schulte; and two sisters, Marie Hannen and Evelyn Barta.
Marian was born June 4, 1927, in Norway, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Gertrude Boddicker Schulte. She married Merlin E. “Bud” Kurt on Feb. 16, 1957, in Cedar Rapids. Bud died in 2010. Marian worked at United Fire and Casualty for 12 years, retiring in 1989. She had also worked at Penford Products.
She was a faithful member of St. Ludmila's Catholic Church and volunteered at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids for many years.
Marian was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Ludmila's Catholic Church.
