PATRICIA "PAT" BREEMEERSCH

Patricia "Pat" Breemeersch, 72, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, March 10, 2017, at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Per Pat's wishes, there will be no service. She chose to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, March 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Victor; son, Jeffrey (Angela King) Breemeersch of Cedar Rapids; and grandsons, Chase and Myles.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pat was born March 22, 1944, the only child of Frank and Josephine (Lyons) Johnston, in Cedar Rapids. A 1962 graduate from Washington High School, she furthered her education at Coe College, graduating in 1966 with an education/French degree. On June 8, 1968, she was united in marriage to Victor Breemeersch in Cedar Rapids.
Pat began her teaching career teaching French at Taft Middle School and Jefferson High School. She then went on to teach general education at Westside Catholic School Systems (Holy Family School District) and St. Jude's Elementary School. She then started the computer lab for the Holy Family School District at St. Patrick's Middle School.
Pat was a very independent woman, who loved her family, especially spending time with her grandsons; cooking, sewing, making crafts and playing cribbage. An avid Cubs and Hawkeyes fan, she also was an accomplished accordion player and teacher at Boddicker School of Music. Pat also enjoyed her vacations to Florida with her husband.
