Burkhart, Jack
Jack Burkhart, 81, of Cedar Rapids, passed away June 2, 2010, at Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion, surrounded by his loving family. There will be no services or visitation per Jack's wishes. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors are his loving wife of 54 years, Doris; daughter, Janelle of Cedar Rapids; son, Jay of Marion; grandchildren, Amber and Anthony of Cedar Rapids; and his sister, Nancy Boddicker of Vinton.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bernard and Ross; and sisters, Margie and Bernice.
Jack was born Feb. 4, 1929, in Blairstown, the son of Jack and Bess Burkhart. He married Doris Eckert on Nov. 26, 1955. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for the Herman M. Brown Co. for 32 years and later for 15 years at Wendling Quarries.
He was a member of Elmcrest Country Club and the Elks Club.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed.
