Boddicker, Geraldine A.. Hegewald

Geraldine Ann Hegewald Boddicker, 87, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at the Keystone Nursing Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 10, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 900 Park St., Tama, with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. until mass time Thursday at the church. Burial at St Patrick's Cemetery, Tama.

Geraldine Ann Hegewald Boddicker was born June 23, 1923, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Magdelena Fritz Hegewald. She grew up in Newhall and graduated from Newhall High School. On June 13, 1940, she married LeRoy Boddicker at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Watkins. The couple farmed near Newhall and Geraldine worked for many years at Armstrongs Department Store in Cedar Rapids. In 1995, they moved to a farm east of Tama. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends.

She is survived by her children, Jim (Janet) Boddicker of Newhall, Judy (Ronald) Garbers of Keystone, John (Rhonda) Boddicker of Platte City, Mo., Jane Junge of Vinton, and Joe Boddicker of Purcellville, Va.; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2000; and her brother, Paul Hegewald.

A memorial fund has been established.
