Boddicker, Delbert
Delbert Boddicker, 98, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at the Keystone Nursing Care Center after a short illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Newhall, with the Rev. Brian Dellaert as celebrant. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial: St. Patrick and St. Paul Cemetery, Watkins, with military rites by the John Ward McGranahan American Legion Post 167 and the Iowa Military Funeral Honors.
Delbert Charles Boddicker was born Aug. 13, 1912, on the family farm near Newhall, Iowa, to John and Anna (Trosky) Boddicker. He attended Catholic elementary school in Norway, Iowa. Delbert served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in northern France and Central Europe with the 347th Engineers, Company C. After the war, he returned to the family farm and farmed his entire life. For Delbert, the highlight of any day was sitting in his pickup admiring a lot full of cattle.
He is survived by his sister, Evelyn Stallman, Cedar Rapids; his sister-in-law, Geraldine Boddicker, Keystone, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Wilma Rose, Agnes Boddicker and Helen Hester; and one brother, LeRoy Boddicker.
A memorial fund has been established.
