Cedar Rapids police locate body of missing 25-year-old
Mar. 12, 2015 7:10 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS - The body of a man missing for about two weeks was found on an island in the Cedar River.
A release from public safety communications coordinator Greg Buelow says police officers and firefighters searched Thursday along the river with K9s and an inflatable boat for 25-year-old Matthew Hudson. Authorities suspected he may have attempted to cross or enter the river.
Searchers found Hudson's body at 12:13 p.m. on an island on the north side of the Quaker Oats bridge in the Cedar River. Investigators believe, based on preliminary information, there was no foul play, according to Buelow.
Police issued an Operation Quickfind about Hudson last week. It said he was last seen on February 28 in the 1600 block of Ellis Boulevard NW in Cedar Rapids.
An autopsy will determine the cause of Hudson's death.
