19-year-old charged in hotel robbery from 2014

A 19-year-old was charged last week for robbing a hotel employee last September after he was nabbed in connection with a burglary charge.
Brandon Jamal Robertson of Cedar Rapids, was charged last Thursday with one count of first-degree robbery. He is accused of pointing a gun at Toni Elliott, an employee of Homewood Suites Hotel, 1140 Park Place NE, and demanding money Sept. 16, 2014, according to the criminal complaint.
The incident was captured on video and Robertson's prints were identified at the scene.
According to a police report, Robertson was arrested at the Linn County Jail Wednesday. Robertson was already in custody for previous charges of a second-degree burglary, trafficking in stolen weapons, carrying weapons, and interference with official acts. His pretrial release was revoked in the burglary case and he in custody when charged with the robbery.
In the burglary case, witnesses identified Robertson as one of the men who entered a residence at 6116 Dean Road SW, Apt. 2, and stole a 60-inch television and a Remington shotgun, according to the criminal complaint. When police found Robertson he was in a car in the 1400 block of Washington Avenue SE, and had a loaded .380 Taurus handgun. Police said he attempted to run from officers before they arrested him.
