Trial set later this month for Tama man accused of killing wife

The trial for a Tama man charged in the fatal stabbing of his wife last year is set for July 28 in Tama County District Court.
Dustin Jefferson, 38, was charged with first-degree murder in May, a day after his mother Ginger Jefferson was convicted of killing his wife Kerry O'Clair Jefferson, 32. Dustin Jefferson is accused of killing O'Clair Jefferson or aiding and abetting in the crime, according to a criminal complaint.
According to testimony at Ginger Jefferson's trial in May, O'Clair Jefferson died from two stab wounds to her neck Sept. 25, 2013.
Dustin Jefferson has pleaded not guilty to the charge. If convicted, he faces life in prison without parole.
Dustin Jefferson also faces five counts of third-degree sexual abuse of a minor on May 1, 2013. The trial for those charges is set for Oct. 13. If convicted of those charges, he faces up to 50 years in prison.
