Woman accused of kidnapping newborn claims she had permission to take baby (updated)
Prosecutors in the kidnapping trial against a Colorado woman accused of taking her half-sister's baby in the town of Beloit will wrap up their case on Wednesday, and the woman's lawyer will present her defense.
Kristen Smith, 31, of Aurora, Colo., who is charged with kidnapping 4-day-old Kayden Powell on Feb. 6, has claimed that she had permission of the father of Kayden Powell to take the boy with her to Colorado.
