CEDAR RAPIDS — Cedar Rapids police are investigating shots being fired in the area of K Street and 13th Avenue SW.
According to police, the reports came in around 9:40 a.m. Friday. A bullet hole was found in a kitchen window of a home at 1302 K St., but no injuries were reported. Public Safety spokesman Greg Buelow said police are unsure when the window was shot, but stressed that officers were not responding to an active shooting.
However, officers investigating at the scene heard more shots being fired in the 1200 block of K Street. As they investigated door to door, they encountered a 17-year-old male who became uncooperative, then combative, with police. He was arrested and taken into custody.
His connection to the shooting - if any - has not been released by police.
Officers - some with rifles drawn - remained on the scene for two hours after the shooting. Lt. Tobey Harrison said from the scene that he could not comment on the officers' continued presence around the block where the shooting occurred.
At least two buildings in the area sustained damage, police said.
