CEDAR RAPIDS - Police officers are thanking witnesses who helped them identify and arrest suspect in a robbery.
Police responded around 4:30 p.m. Sunday to the 1800 block of Johnson Avenue NW, near the Hy-Vee. Bystanders told officers a woman was walking when someone came up and stole her purse. Several people saw the suspect leave and provided a description of the vehicle and license plate number, according to a release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
Investigators found and stopped the vehicle in the 1900 block of Burch Avenue NW. Officers arrested 31-year-old Pierre Morrow for first degree robbery, a Class B felony. Police also learned he had a warrant for 4th degree theft. That warrant comes from an incident in September, according to online court records.
