CEDAR RAPIDS - Temperatures should remain below zero the entire day and with strong winds, wind chill values of -25 to -35 will be common.
Tonight, as winds back down for a short time under clear sky, temperatures should fall quickly with late evening readings well down into the minus teens. A few localized spots will probably see -20 this evening, with the best chance along and south of Highway 30 where the winds will be lightest. Gusty southwest winds will come back late tonight bringing temperatures back up quickly into the teens above zero with a chance of snow by the afternoon. Unfortunately, wind chills will still be below zero most of the day.
More cold is likely from Thursday night through Saturday morning with wind chills again approaching -30 at times.
