CEDAR RAPIDS - A 40-year-old Marion man pleaded guilty Friday to soliciting a 13-year-old girl for sex in 2010.
Dustin Bumbarger pleaded guilty to one count of lascivious acts with a child in Linn County District Court. He admitted in court to soliciting the girl and touching her between and including Jan. 1 and Sept. 29, 2010. Bumbarger faces five years in prison.
First Assistant Linn County attorney Nick Maybanks said in accordance with the plea agreement Bumbarger will ask for a suspended sentence and three years supervised probation. He also will be required to complete sex offender treatment, register as a sex offender for 10 years and serve a special sentence of 10 years on parole because he's convicted of a sex offense.
Sixth Judicial District Senior Judge Denver Dillard stipulated that the sentencing judge could ask for the maximum probation time of five years. Bumbarger and his attorney Dave Cmelik agreed to the stipulation.
Dillard also imposed a no contact order against Bumbarger for the victim and that he will be required to pay any victim's restitution.
Sentencing is set 10:30 a.m. Jan. 2, 2015.
