Virginia Ann Hoover, 56, of Walker, died Thursday morning, March 20, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a courageous battle with cancer since 2008.
Virginia was born July 15, 1957, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of Leslie L. and Nettie C. (Anslme) Leohr. She was a 1976 graduate of East Buchanan High School in Winthrop and received an accounting certificate from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. On April 22, 1978, she was united in marriage to DeWayne J. Hoover at Hoover Wesleyan Church, Walker. The family made their home near Walker and Troy Mills.
Virginia was employed with Collins Radio, United Title, Lefebure, US Cellular, All Farms Machinery and most recently, with Transamerica Insurance Co. in Cedar Rapids for the last 13 years.
She is survived by her husband, DeWayne Hoover, Walker; three children, Patrick (Lynette) Hoover, Troy Mills, Michelle Hoover, Troy Mills, and Ashley Hoover, Quasqueton; a granddaughter, Lynette Parmenter, Quasqueton; her father, Leslie L. Leohr, Quasqueton; two sisters, Rosemary McCombs, Jesup, and Theresa Leohr, Independence; and a brother, Charles (Heidi) Leohr, Waverly; and many nieces and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her mother, Nettie Leohr.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hoover Wesleyan Church, Walker, with the Rev. Charles Clark, the Rev. Kevin Jennings and the Rev. Jamie Wolf officiating. Burial will be in Circle Grove Cemetery, Walker. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Quasqueton, and from 9 a.m. until services Monday at the church.
