Surviving are her brother, James H. (Margaret) Wick Jr., West Branch; two daughters, Barb J. (Jeff) Ehrmann, Bettendorf, and Elizabeth T. Lugg, Normal, Ill.; grandsons, James (Kelly) Ehrmann, Seattle, Wash., Tim Ehrmann, Dubuque, Jay (Darbie) Cooper, West Branch, William Cooper, Normal, Ill., John Cooper, Jerseyville, Ill., David Cooper, Normal, Ill., Hugh Lugg, Normal, Ill., Robert Lugg, Normal, Ill., and Ted Lugg, Normal, Ill.; and one great-granddaughter, Claire Cooper, West Branch.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was a graduate of Iowa City High and the University of Iowa, with a Bachelor of Arts in home economics and secondary education, and a Master of Arts in educational administration. She was a doctoral student in educational administration at the University of Iowa when before finishing her dissertation, she accepted a teaching position at Regina High School in Iowa City. Her interest in and devotion to education and her family were lifelong passions.
Before her marriage she taught third grade in Lone Tree. During her marriage she did not work outside the home for pay. Instead she served education in various ways, including as president of the PTA, volunteering at her daughter's schools, and serving as Brownie Scout and Girl Scout leader. She also served several terms on the school board of the Iowa City Community School District, including being recognized and presenting at the annual convention of the National School Board Association held in Los Angeles in 1979. She formally retired from education in 1983 to devote her time to her grandsons.
She was a member of PEO Chapter E, University Club, Alpha Delta Pi sorority, Alpha Beta Chapter and the City High Alumni Society.
Special thanks to the wonderful professionals at Iowa City Hospice and Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent and loving care and concern shown to her during her last days of life.
She was greatly loved by her family and will be tremendously missed.
