Applicants for next 6th Judicial District judge will interview Wednesday

LINN COUNTY - Applicants for 6th Judicial District judge position will be interviewed Wednesday in Linn County.
Chief Judge Patrick Grady announced last week that 17 attorneys have submitted their names as applicants to the 6th Judicial Nominating Commission for the vacancy due to Judge Stephen Jackson Jr. leaving next month to become a U.S. Magistrate in the Southern District of Iowa.
The Commission will meet 8:30 a.m. Wednesday to interview the applicants. Two successful applicants will be selected as nominees and their names will be submitted to Gov. Terry Branstad who will make the appointment.

- Tama County Attorney Brent Heeren of Toledo
- Patricia Hoffman-Simanek, attorney of Cedar Rapids
- Chad Kepros, attorney of North Liberty
- James Kringlen, managing partner of Iowa Legal Aid in Cedar Rapids, of Solon
- Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Lightfoot of Cedar Rapids
- Kristofer Lyons, attorney of Monticello
- Ronald Martin, attorney of Alburnett
- Kevin McKeever, attorney of Iowa City
- James Moriarity, attorney of Cedar Rapids
- Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard Murphy of Cedar Rapids
