Susan McMorris, 65, of Plano, Texas, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, July 9, 2015, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Celebration of Life will take place Monday, July 13, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Palisades-Kepler State Park Lodge in Mount Vernon.
Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer (Chris) Smith of Lisbon and April McMorris of California; two grandsons, Wyatt and Walker; and four brothers, David, Paul and Mark (Lynda) Fiester of Independence and Stephen Fiester of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Susan was born May 14, 1950, in Independence, the daughter of Richard and Agnes Fiester. She graduated from Independence High School and later from Mount Mercy College with a BSN degree.
Love, compassion and kindness were qualities that came easily to Susan, and she devoted most of her life to helping others.
The family would like to thank her hospice team of Christa, the Rev. Bill, "Safety" Sara and Lorie for their invaluable support and incredible care.
