Surviving are his wife, Karen; five children, Terry (Darcy), Anamosa, Gary (Gwyn), Newhall, Steve (Cindy), Cascade, Stan (Sandy), Lincoln, Neb., and Janet (Bruce) Ball, Iowa City; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his brother, Louis of Anamosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Helen; three brothers, Alphonse (killed in the Korean War), Justin and Loras; and his sister, Marian Rickels.
Andrew Paul Stoll was born July 7, 1929, in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Alphonse and Elizabeth Lehman Stoll. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Monticello in 1947. He was employed at Kene Implement in Cascade, Clinton Engines, and was a machine tool operator for his brother-in-law, Vince Knepper. Andy married Helen Knepper at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cascade on June 30, 1952. The couple started farming near Anamosa in 1958. She preceded him in death in 1972.
Andy married Karen Linnemeier on Nov. 27, 1982, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa. They farmed until 1985, when they moved into Anamosa. Andy then worked for 20 years at the Anamosa Furniture Mart.
Andy was a member of St. Patrick's Church and Knights of Columbus. He loved to watch the Bears and Cubs games. He also was an avid Hawkeye fan, especially Iowa wrestling. He belonged to Fawn Creek Country Club and enjoyed playing cards every Thursday. In his youth he had played town team baseball for Cascade for many years.
Andy's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the doctors and nurses, therapists, tech, and staff who touched our lives while giving Andy such wonderful care over the past five months. During this time, we met so many caring people at Jones Regional Hospital, St. Luke's ICU, and St. Luke's LTACH. Most recently, his final stay at Unity Point Hospice was more endurable because of the support and concern of everyone we encountered. Very special thanks, also to Father Birch for his many visits and spiritual guidance during Andy's illness. To all of you, thanks so much. We will always remember the outpouring of support and friendship you gave us!
