Cindy Pettit, 73, of Mason City, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at the IOOF Home in Mason City.
Her memorial service will be Friday, Feb. 28, at 2:30 p.m. at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. SE, Mason City. A visitation will be one hour before at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Ron Stein will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Mason City.

Cindy was born June 27, 1940, in Mason City, Iowa, to Harry and Helen (Hinich) Bovaird. She attended Mason City and Waterloo schools, graduating with honors.
On March 14, 1961, in Iowa City, Cindy married David James Pettit, whom she loved very much. Together they had three children. She worked as a nurse's aide in Mason City and later in Cedar Rapids and Waterloo. Later in life she bartended for many years in Cedar Rapids. Then she moved back to Mason City in 1999.
She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren. She had a knack for picking out the most beautiful cards, She loved cooking, watching scary movies and of course 10,000.
She was a kindhearted, headstrong, loving and caring person who would do anything she could for you.
She will be missed.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Dawn (Doug) Barragy of Mason City; her brother, James Bovaird; her grandchildren, David Allen Pettit, Zachary James Pettit, Sheena Desiree Clinton, Kayla Beth (Tony) Mullenbach, Koby David Barragy and Krystl Amber Barragy; her great-grandchildren, Conner Michael Mullenbach and Caden Ray Mullenbach; and her step-dad, Harvey Schauf.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Harry and Helen; sons, David Michael Pettit and David Ray Pettit; her granddaughter, Amber Nicole Richmond; her aunts, Milly Bielik and Nancy Walters; uncles, Mike Hinich and Ray Walters; cousins, Nancy (Tootsie) Walters and Michelle Urutia; and her beloved grandmother, Kathryn Hinich.
