Leona E. Glandon, 97, died Friday, March 14, 2014, at Mercy Iowa City. A Celebration of Life
Memorial Service will be at Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 11, with
Pastor Edwin Jordan officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. that Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the North English Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a general memorial fund has been established.

Leona Eleanor Glandon was born Nov. 20, 1916, near Eddyville, Iowa, the daughter of John and Mary Belle (Durbala) Gasper. She attended country schools and received her teaching certificate. She was united in marriage to Marion William Glandon on Jan. 16, 1938, in Oskaloosa. They made their home in Illinois and Washington, Iowa, and then moved to Williamsburg, Iowa, in 1955.
Leona enjoyed dancing, baking pies, gardening, canning, reading and spending time with her friends and family.
Leona is survived by her daughter, Mary Lynn (Roger) Kretchmer of Osage Beach, Mo.; a son-in-law, James Riess of Conroy; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; an infant daughter, Patricia Glandon; daughter, Nancy Riess; two brothers, Carl and John; and a sister, Helen.
