Iowa City Fire Department announces promotions, new hire

The Iowa City Fire Department has announced a series of promotions and a new hire.
Three 12-year veterans of the department, Eric Nurnberg, Zach Hickman and Troy Roth, all received promotions. Nurnberg has been named battalion chief; Hickman has been promoted to captain and Roth and been promoted to lieutenant. A fourth firefighter, Branden Sobaski, a 4-year veteran of the department, was promoted to the rank of lieutenant.
In addition to the promotions, the fire department has hired Tad Stoner. Stoner, previously a certified peace officer in Warren County, has completed his six-week firefighter orientation period and has been assigned to Shift B.
