Drunk man was searching for lost Girl Scouts, according to police reports

A Peosta man was arrested last week for an incident in February during which he drunkenly claimed he was searching for lost Girl Scouts near a creek.

According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint filed last week, back on Feb. 10, officers responded to Ralston Creek, near the intersection of Linn and Prentiss streets after receiving reports of a man crying for help. Responding officers found the man sitting in the mud on the edge of the creek. The man told officers he was Peggy Hill, of Arlington, Tex., but police later determined his real name was Sean M. Siegert, a 19-year-old from Peosta.

Police said Siegert continued to ask for help after their arrival and told officers he needed to find four Girl Scouts he had lost. Police said Siegert was rescued from a potentially "life threatening" situation when they found him, presumably referring to the man being wet, drunk and outdoors in the middle of February.

Siegert later told the officers he wanted to help the scouts earn a merit badge. Police said Siegert showed "all signs" of intoxication and was taken to the emergency room for medical treatment. Officers were unable to find any lost Girl Scouts.

Siegert now faces one count of public intoxication.
