Two men were arrested on warrants Monday after police said they confronted a victim in south Iowa City, pulled a handgun on him and threatened to kill him.
Jose Gumaro Ramirez, 31, and Philip Esmond Worton-Smith, 28, of Iowa City, are accused of confronting the man outside his home at 2110 Broadway St. at 10 p.m. Thursday, according to a criminal complaint.
Ramirez is accused of pulling up his shirt to reveal a handgun, pulling it from his belt, pointing it at the victim and threatening to kill him, police reported. Before Ramirez and Worton-Smith fled the scene, Worton-Smith is accused of physically striking the victim, according to the complaint.
It's unknown whether the victim was injured.
Both Ramirez and Worton-Smith face charges of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon and going armed with intent, a felony.
Both men have left the Johnson County Jail, according to online records.
