Two men accused of robbing a Maynard bank and shooting at police and state troopers who tried to catch them in October appeared in court Monday.
Surrounded by deputies and corrections officers, William Clayton, 19, of Osage, and Jeremiah Mumford, 24, of New Hampton, sat quietly as they made their initial appearance in Fayette County District Court.
Mumford is charged with first-degree robbery, terrorism/intimidation with a weapon and two counts of attempted murder in the shootout that left a trooper and a officer with gunshot wounds.
Clayton is charged with the same robbery and terrorism charges as well as two counts of aiding and abetting attempted murder.
