A trial for a Marion man accused of sexual abuse and sexual exploitation a child is still on track to start Nov. 18, in Linn County District Court.
James Olds, 45, is charged with second-degree sexual abuse, sexual exploitation of a minor, lascivious acts with a child, lascivious conduct with a minor, indecent contact with a child and indecent exposure and false imprisonment. He is accused of sexually abusing and repeatedly exploiting a girl between the time she was 3-1/2 to 6 years of age, according to a criminal complaint and search warrant.
The child, who will testify at trial, told investigators Olds made her disrobe while he took photos of her, and that he tied her to a chair while taking photos, according to a criminal complaint.
This trial has been continued and reset several times since charges were filed in August 2011.
First Assistant Linn County Attorney Nick Maybanks said Thursday following a pre-trial conference that the trial would last a week. There will be a final hearing next Friday to take up a pending motion before trial.
Olds is also charged in another separate sexual abuse case involving an adult. He is charged with third-degree sexual abuse and accused of sexually assaulting a woman Aug. 2009 at his residence, according to a criminal complaint. That trial is set Dec. 16.
