CORALVILLE - No one was injured after firefighters extinguished a house fire started by a bolt of lightning Tuesday morning.
The Coralville Fire Department said firefighters were dispatched around 7:30 a.m. for the report of a fire at 145 Auburn East Lane.
Firefighters put out the blaze within 45 minutes, officials said. The fire was contained to the attic, but the entire home was damaged by smoke and water. The damage was estimated at $30,000.
Officials said investigators determined the fire had been caused by a lightning strike from the storms that moved through Eastern Iowa on Tuesday morning.
The owners of the home were not there when the fire started.
