Two injured in Cedar Rapids shooting

Two people were being treated for what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries Thursday night after a shooting in Cedar Rapids.
According to a media release from the Cedar Rapids police, at 7:56 p.m. officers were dispatched to the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 15th Street SE with a report of numerous shots fired.
As officers arrived on scene, they located two individuals 'in the immediate area” who had received gunshot wounds, according to the release. Both individuals were then transported by Area Ambulance to a hospital for treatment of what appeared to police to be non-life-threatening injuries.
With further investigation, police say they were able to determine that the shooting occurred outside in the 400 block of 15th St. SE.
Officers were on the scene Thursday night still gathering evidence and locating witnesses, according to the release.
As the investigation was ongoing at the time, no furthe information was made available as of Thursday night.
