Arrest made in adult store Romantix robbery

An arrest has been made in the robbery of the Romantix adult store in Iowa City in early January.
According to the a media release from the Iowa City Police Department, tips made to the area CrimeStoppers line helped authorities identify the man who robbed Romantix, 315 Kirkwood Ave., on Jan. 7 as William S. Porter, 42. A warrant for first-degree robbery was then issued for his arrest, according to the release.
This morning at 8:10 a.m. members of the North Liberty Police Department stopped a vehicle being driven by Porter near the intersection of Kansas Avenue and West Zeller Street, according to the release. Porter wass then taken into custody without incident, according to the release.
Porter allegedly robbed the Romantix store in the early morning hours of Jan. 7 by brandishing a weapon and leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash and Romantix merchandise, according to the release. The employee was not hurt in the incident, police said.
Police later release security camera photos of the suspect to the public and asked for their assistance in identifying him.
In the release Iowa City Police offer thanks to the members of the public who assisted in the case, as well as the North Liberty Police Department and Johnson County Sheriff's Office for their help.
