Inmate fails to return to correctional center, authorities searching

Authorities are requesting the public's assistance in locating an escaped inmate from Linn County Jail.
According to a news release, inmate Derek Edward Meyers, 31, was being held in the Linn County Jail on a $10,000 bond for Revocation of Probation. He was granted a court order furlough on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. but failed to return to the correctional center at 5 p.m. on that day as scheduled.
He is described in the release as a white male, 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds. Meyers left the jail wearing a black shirt, black sweatshirt, bluejeans and white shoes.
