Cedar Rapids man charged with sex abuse

CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man has been charged with sex abuse based on allegations he performed a sex act on a girl younger than 12.

Blake W. Blume, 23, was charged with second-degree sex abuse, forcible fondling, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison. He's accused of committing a sex act with his mouth on a girl younger than 12 on Sept. 29 at an apartment in the 2100 block of North Towne Court NE, Cedar Rapids.

The girl's parents had allowed Blume to stay at their apartment temporarily after he'd been asked to leave another residence, court records state. After the parents returned to the apartment after a short trip, the girl told them Blume had pulled down her pants and committed the sex act, records state.

Blume told the girl if she told anyone he'd do it again, police reported.

Blume is being held at the Linn County Correctional Center on $50,000 bond.
