Update: 15-year-old arrested after carjacking at Cedar Rapids Wal-Mart, chase near Davenport

A 15-year-old male was taken into custody after stealing a car at a Cedar Rapids Wal-Mart and leading officers on a chase near Davenport.
Cedar Rapids police officers were dispatched at 9:44 p.m. Friday to Wal-Mart at 2645 Blairs Ferry Road NE, according to a media release. A woman stated that her vehicle had been stolen by a male that was armed with a handgun. The woman was not injured.
The stolen vehicle and driver were later reported as a reckless driver on I-80 near Davenport, according to the release. The Scott County Sheriff's Department attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop. After a short pursuit, the vehicle crashed and the 15-year-old was taken into custody.
The suspect has been charged with numerous traffic violations and first degree theft for being in possession of the stolen vehicle. Officers also recovered a replica handgun, according to the release.
The suspect was transported to the Scott County Juvenile Detention Center. His name is not being released because he is a juvenile.
The investigation is ongoing.
