Police: Marion man charged with breaking into motel room, stabbing occupant

Marion police say a man is in stable condition after emergency responders found him Tuesday night at a Marion motel with a stab wound to his neck.

According to a criminal complaint, officers were dispatched just before 7 p.m. to the lobby of the Marion Motel, 2230 Seventh Ave., where they found the 46-year-old man.

In the complaint, police said the man reported that 42-year-old Taaun Jackson, of Marion, 'forced entry into his room and stabbed him in the neck.”

Police said the two men are acquaintances who got into an altercation, which ultimately led to the stabbing, but declined to comment further.

The injured man was transported to a hospital where, according to the complaint, he 'received emergency treatment and is expected to survive.”

Police said Jackson was later located and found to be in possession of a knife, allegedly admitting to 'involvement in an altercation with the victim,” the complaint states.

Jackson faces charges of attempt to commit murder and first-degree burglary, both Class B felonies, and willful injury resulting in serious injury, a Class C felony.
