Cedar Rapids man robs woman in front of Hy-Vee, found with stolen handgun

A Cedar Rapids man faces multiple charges stemming from an incident near the Hy-Vee on 3215 Oakland Road NE on September 4.
According to a release issued by Cedar Rapids Public Safety Communications Coordinator Greg Buelow, Anthony Allen Bartlett, 21, allegedly entered an 18-year-old female's vehicle, pointed a handgun at her, and demanded cash.
Officers subsequently located the suspect walking on the north side of the Hy-Vee, approached him, and directed him to the ground.
Upon a search of Bartlett, officers found a handgun as well as marijuana.
The handgun has been determined to be a gun reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on May 11, 2017.
Bartlett has been charged with 1st Degree robbery, carrying a concealed weapon, trafficking in stolen weapons, possession of a controlled substance, and interference with official Acts.
At this time, the investigators do not believe that the robbery was random, and the investigation remains ongoing.
1st degree robbery is a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
