Police investigating after two individuals walk into ER with gunshot wounds

CEDAR RAPIDS - Police are investigating after two individuals walked in to Unity Point - St. Luke's Wednesday night, each with a gunshot wound.
According to the Cedar Rapids Police Department, officers were dispatched to the hospital at 1026 A Avenue NE, at about 9:20 p.m. and again just before 11 p.m.
Police said the first individual was a 22-year-old female who sustained a gunshot wound to the arm. It is believed that the shooting may have occurred in northeast Cedar Rapids, but police said investigators are still trying to determine the exact location and circumstances surrounding the incident.
The second individual was an 18-year-old male who sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Police have not yet determined where the shooting took place, but it is believes the incident occurred somewhere in southwest Cedar Rapids
Police said it does not appear the two individuals are connected or that the incidents were related.
In both cases, police said an individual had driven to the hospital and walked into the emergency room seeking treatment for a gunshot wound. Police said one individual was undergoing a number of tests, but both gunshot wounds appeared to be non-life threatening.
