People, pets displaced by SW Cedar Rapids fire

CEDAR RAPIDS - No one was injured during a fire at a triplex in southwest Cedar Rapids on Tuesday morning.
According to the Cedar Rapids Fire Department, the fire was reported at 7:25 a.m. when a passer-by saw smoke coming from the two-story building in the 2100 block of Chandler Street SW. Three people and pets were evacuated, and firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze.
The basement apartment unit was damaged by the fire, and the two apartments in the upper level had smoke and water damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
